About UsWe are a Christian network supporting christian counsellors. psychologists, psychiatrists, general practioners, ministers, health professionals, prayer counsellors and chaplains who are caring for those who are experiencing the effects of trauma.
Our aim is to provide a place for professional carers who are assisting those who are working through trauma related issues, to be able to come together for discussion, assistance and support. We are able to provide resources and materials as well as a good quality library of reference books.
We meet bi-monthly to share and discuss some of the issues we encounter, which help broaden our understanding of the effect that trauma and its co-morbidity of problems, has on the lives of those who struggle with the impact on their families.
Part of the aims of this group is to educate and highlight the difficulties faced by those seeking help and the lack of understanding and ignorance by many. These people are often misdiagnosed and go and spend many years and much money, trying to find someone who understands this disorder.
Those who are involved in running this group have many years of experience of working with clients who continue to suffer from the long term effects of past and present trauma. We have a passion to see those who we call survivors come into healing and independence.
Our Goals
1.Establish a network
That is a relational based informal network, to share teaching, training, resourcing, mutual accountability and ensure professional standards for those working with survivors of trauma.
2. Prayer Co-ordinators
Our aim is to develop prayer groups or teams who can teach effective strategies and direction for those who are involved in the care of the broken and equipping those they care for, to incorporate those prayer strategies into their daily life. .
3. Supported accommodation
Establishing homes with people who would be willing to support those who may need to have a few days respite. Or accomodating speakers from interstate or overseas.
4.To Develop A Crisis Centre
A safe place to manage crisis times or intensive ministry eg domestic violence, calendar dates of significance, suicide ideation or attempts, or much needed respite.
5. Support groups
For both survivors and their families. These groups can offer discipleship and support by participating in groups like Cleansing Streams, Careforce recovery, bible studies etc.
6. Education of Churches
For ministers wishing to understand and be educated in the area of working with trauma. Support, education and training is offered so that they can be equipped in their field of ministry.
7. Supply Educational Material Relating to The Understanding of the Effects of Trauma
We are building an extensive library of DVD's, Books and Reference materials also pdf documents which can be downloaded. As well as handout sheets that are informative for those wishing to understand more.
8. To Provide Networking and Links To Others In The Field
To be able to refer or provide links to people or facilities and network with others as the need arises.
“It is our prayer, that the Lord Jesus will bring together His people in a Spirit of Love and Unity according to Ephesians 4: 3-16, so that we may develop a relationship-based network to bring healing to the broken hearted and to set the captive free”, according to Isaiah 61: 1 and Acts 10:38.”
